Cast on 105 stitches on 3.50 mm needles. Join in the round and place a marker. Be careful not to twist the stitches!.

Row 1 (RS): [K1, p1] rep to end.
Row 2 (WS): [K1, p1] rep to end.
These 2 rows set the 1×1 rib for the brim of the hat.

Rep rows 1 and 2 until brim measures approximately 3 cm ending with a WS row.

Change to 4.50 mm needles and work in pattern as follows

ROW 1 : [K1, p1] rep to end.

In this hat I worked  3 shades of pink but you can play around with colour combinations!

Careful! When you work stripes in the round, a ‘jog’  can appear when changing colours. To avoid this, when you come to a colour change round, slip the marker, join new colour and knit 1 round in new colour. On the following round, slip the marker, then slip first stitch of the new colour from the left to the right needle entering the stitch as though to purl, but without knitting it  purlwise) and knit the remaining stitches in the round as usual.

How to Knit Smooth Jogless Stripes in the Round

When the hat measures 24 cm form the cast on edge  *K2tog; repeat from * to end of row. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining sts and pull to gather. Knot securely.

Weave any loose ends into wrong side of knitting (if you used different colors). Make a pompom and attach it to the top.
